Gone,goatie, Gone!!!

A tear  for Alec

Africa comes from the raw world, natural as it is full of life, robust earth rich for crops, and all animals that grace our homesteads, whether domestic or wild ,we pride ourselves of having a ready Christmas meal ready or at least have an idea where to get some on the big day
However,, not all of us dwell in the rich bountiful highlands  with all the fruits and wild berries in the world world, that to live there would seem a neo-Aden.There are some of us who live in the city, and due to one reason or the other some may have a hard time deciding whether a goat is or not one, well, for me, i have been  living in cities all my life, though of course conscious of distinctive animal characteristics, and love for roast meat, thus the intense need to have a goat to barbecue for friends and family that had gripped me had  since drove me to buy one for my family reunion on the  big day.
weeks before the D-day, i decided to use the only cash i had on me to buy `Alec`the goat,as i had named him.i also came to grow very fond of the he-goat as he had fallen slightly under the weather, he had developed a cough that sounded almost like a human cough.
Due to the kind of relationship that Alec and i had developed, and his potential role in  making our christmas day a memorable one, his health had to be of high priority since he would be the source of all our delight on Christmas day. I searched every agro-vet that i could find nearby until i procured the tablets i needed for Alec, at least to De-worm him and also get rid of the cough.come the big day,Alec would not disappoint me, i presumed.

As the holiday approached,i had confirmed to all members of my family about the family reunion party i was busy organising, and they too confirmed their attendance.
It would be a day everybody looked foward to with much  anticipation and zeal as i too longed to show off my barbecue skills.
Simon, known for his slaughterhouse expertise, promised he would do the honors and prepare Alec early morning of Christmas day, just before he reported to work at the butchery.
After working late on my computer,i turned in very late.
It felt like it was just a few minutes the gardener banged on my bedroom window to let me know his discovery.Aparently the goat had been stolen by a burglar in the dead of the night.my day then started off feeling like i would strangle something anytime.
`I cant find the goat,Sam,Sam, are you there?` Ken was banging on the glass pane, and irritating my  sweet sleep with the kind of news he brought were`nt exactly to celebrate about.

We tried to locate Alec in vain, searching everywhere in a ten kilometer radius but few hours later,we were a bunch of irate Africans wondering what kind of evil exists among men.

Not withstanding the disappointment, acceptance is better than cry over stolen meat.
soon, i was busy slaughtering chicken instead in abid to musk everyone`s dissapointment on learning Alec`s fate.
The words on everyone`s lips ,and the thoughts of everyone`s mind echoed what a great chrismas day it had been regardless of  Alec or his absence thereof.
we had a wonderful celebration roasting chicken and other traditional  meals fit for such an occation, while the thief got special prayers from each one of us that he either chokes on bone or has a terrible diarrhea.

merry Xmas y`all
